Our therapists have special training and experience to enhance all areas of the child’s development from a relationship-based approach. Our goal is to help each child access his/her environment in order to learn and grow. We are available when you are. Because parent involvement is such an important aspect of our program, we offer services during the day, in the evening, and on weekends. We come to you. Evidence based research supports providing services in the child’s natural environment. This means we go where the child spends his/her time; at home, the park, at a learning center, etc. We also offer services in our clinic if this meets the needs of the child. AlphaVista Early Intervention offers evaluations, screenings and on-going therapy services. Evaluations are conducted to determine your child’s developmental levels. This process shows your child’s strengths and areas where intervention may be important. We use your knowledge of your child, our observation and play activities to gain the necessary information. We offer both comprehensive and single discipline evaluations. A comprehensive evaluation provides information in each of the following areas: cognition, receptive language, expressive language, gross motor, fine motor, social-emotional and self-help/feeding. Single discipline evaluations assess one specific area such as communication, or motor skills. We share our clinical observations during the evaluation process, and follow up with a written report. AlphaVista’s screenings are offered at a variety of community settings. This is a very quick and easy way to determine if your child would benefit from a full evaluation. We offer a variety of on-going therapeutic services to address each child’s unique needs. Together, we develop an appropriate and meaningful plan to identify needs and establish outcomes for the family and child. This may include direct intervention in one or more of the areas below, consultation, parent education and support, training to child care providers and teachers, or referrals to other community resources. These are our most common direct intervention services: Speech-Language Therapy helps children improve communication skills. This includes both understanding and using language, improving pronunciation, vocal quality, and fluency. Therapists may also focus on the child’s physical ability to produce speech, and feeding and swallowing. Occupational Therapy assists children build fine motor skills, self-help, and sensory processing. Therapists use sensory activities that encourage exploration, heighten sensory awareness, and enhance learning. Some therapy goals may include pre-writing, dressing, or feeding skills. Developmental Therapy helps children increase the learning of basic concepts, determines strategies to help the child successfully participate in typical classroom settings, and provides support to parents and teachers in fostering carry-over skills for the child across settings. Hanen Programs are designed for parents of children who have language delays. Hanen is recognized around the world for its research into how the communication skills of children with language delays can improve with their parents’ help. We have a strong knowledge and experience base in providing services to children who have a variety of developmental delays, including:
